June General Membership Meeting

June’s General Membership meeting will be on Tuesday, June 25th. Doors open at 6:30 PM for a social with light refreshments, and the meeting will start at 7:00 PM. We are back at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting room for this meeting and the remainder of 2019, 302 N Main St., Culpeper.

We plan to invite many candidates for local office to address our membership at upcoming meetings. This month, Independent Candidate for Sheriff, C J Johnson will be in attendance to make a few remarks and answer questions.

At this meeting we will devote time to help unravel the confusion over what offices we vote for on November 5th. Thanks to “gerrymandering,” the county of Culpeper has 13 different ballots this November. Do you know what yours will look like?

The CCDC Treasurer has resigned. Anyone who wishes to put their name forward for this position, or nominate someone for this position, should notify David Reuther by midnight, Monday, June 24th. So far, the chair has received the nomination of Peggy Kenney for the position of CCDC Treasurer. The members present at our June 25th meeting will vote in a new treasurer from those nominees presented to the Chair by the deadline.

We have had new members join us in the past few months. We welcome even more participation, so please bring a friend.

The Democratic voter in Culpeper will be well served by any of these candidates. Absentee voting in person has started at the Culpeper Election Office and runs until June 8. The strength of the Culpeper Democrats is that the voter takes the time to study the candidates and expends the efforts to go to the polls. Thank you for participating in this vital part of the democratic process!

The Republican Party will also be holding a primary in the 17th Senate District this year.
